When you step out of your element and into a new element you have to be able to make an adjustment. Things change when you are no longer in your comfort zone and this change means you need to be prepared. You won’t only be making a physical adjustment, you will be making a mental adjustment as well.
When you first meet a new group of people (team mates, coaches) you have to adjust to them first, whether you like it or not. Remember that you are the new kid on the block. You are the outsider, in the beginning.
Always respect people especially when you first meet them. Treating them this way will earn you respect as well.
When they make calls or judgments about you, remember where you came from and who you are. Remember the winning champion inside of you. You are new to them, so they may not know your heart yet. Give them time.
Take the positive in what they say and never allow the negative in, whether it is toward you or about somebody else. If they want to bash people, let it be known that you are there to support all members of the team. Keep your team spirit, no matter what other players choose to do.
Learn to appreciate the fact that whenever you meet someone new, or a group of new people, that they are there to help you grow. Embrace them because they are there to better your situation and help you throughout your journey in life so respect them and treat them as people of importance, because they are.
